Border Patrol Rescues MS NOW Crew in Desert

The News
A television crew from MS NOW had to be rescued by Border Patrol agents after getting stuck in the remote Texas desert while filming a report critical of President Trump's border wall.
Host Antonia Hylton and her team were working in the Big Bend region for the debut of the program "The Assignment" when their Jeep Wagoneer bottomed out, according to the New York Post and Mediaite.
The Post reported that three Border Patrol rescue trucks got trapped in the same terrain during the recovery.
What They Were Filming
The report was a deep-dive investigation into the Trump administration's use of eminent domain to acquire private land in Big Bend for a southern border wall — including interviews with longtime Trump supporters who say the policy turned them against him.
Timeline
Hylton travels to Big Bend for an investigation into the proposed border wall and the land seizures it would require, according to Raw Story's account of the MS NOW report.
The crew's Jeep Wagoneer bottoms out in the desert. Border Patrol agents are called in to pull them out, and the Post reports that three of the agency's rescue trucks become stuck as well.
Raw Story publishes its write-up of the MS NOW segment, focused on Texas landowners who say Trump wants to hand their property over for the wall.
Mediaite posts video of the rescue. The New York Post follows later the same day.
Reactions
Texas landowners interviewed for the MS NOW report described the eminent domain push in blunt terms, telling the network it amounted to "greed and corruption," per Raw Story. One of them, Yolanda Alvarado, comes from a family that has held land in the region for five generations.
Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland, a 26-year veteran of the Border Patrol, said existing technology already covers the area's security needs.
Border Patrol says the activity underway near Big Bend is survey and design work, not physical construction of a wall.
On the right, the rescue itself became the story: the Post and Mediaite both framed it as agents of the agency being pressed into service to save a news crew that had come to scrutinize the border mission.
What's Next
Construction near Big Bend National Park has been temporarily halted. Whether that pause becomes permanent — and how many landowners ultimately face eminent domain proceedings — is unresolved.
The wall has also become an issue in the Texas Senate race between Ken Paxton and James Talarico.
More
Big Bend is one of the least-trafficked stretches of the southern border. The sector accounts for 1.3% of total border apprehensions, and the corridor runs through mountains thousands of feet high, the Rio Grande, and miles of open desert where temperatures reach 100 degrees — the same terrain that swallowed the news crew's Jeep.
Landowners warn the wall's proposed path could cut them off from Rio Grande water or separate homes from family cemeteries, and that it would damage an economy built on tourism.
